With support from Delta Dental of Arizona Foundation for toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss and educational materials from Teeth on the Go, Ms. Ernst's second grade students' have learned about good dental hygiene practices and more importantly established a regular time after lunch to brush and floss! Even when a substitute was in their class, students asked to brush their teeth after lunch. Having seen this success other teachers in the school are now interested in adopting a brushing time for their students

Every Little Tooth Counts - It really does! Protecting and preserving primary teeth is important for young children. A demonstration project at the Virginia G. Piper Dental Clinic, at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, is helping moms care for and protect their baby's teeth! Children from birth to 5 years old receive dental screenings and fluoride varnish treatments to protect their teeth. Repeat visits allow check-ups and additional treatments to preserve those teeth and reinforce health messages. Recent government statistics show an alarming increase in cavities for preschoolers' ages two to four years old. The demonstration project found 37% of the children already showed evidence of dental disease. Clearly, working early to teach parents and young children how to care for their teeth is an important prevention approach.
National Children’s Dental Health Month – Each February, Delta Dental of Arizona Foundation partners with the Children’s Museum of Phoenix to bring a month of oral health related activities to all visitors in order to get kids and their families excited about oral health.
Smile Bags – In 2009, Delta Dental of Arizona Foundation distributed over 68,000 smile bags to the community. Each smile bag contains an age appropriate toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and oral health informational card.
